Years later in a unique employment arrangement, Anya commuted monthly cross country from her residence in California to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. She quickly noticed the same to be true regarding comfort and education for those flying. Illness, flight delays, and all the unpredictable aspects of airplane travel were easier to deal with when practical details of comfort and education were addressed.

Anya has since worked as a registered nurse and entrepreneur in the travel industry specializing in comfort and education.

Author: Anya recognized the need for practical education for travelers of all ages. As a pregnant world traveler in 2003, she began researching the best products and tips for family travelers. With the help of over 20 travel experts (with a combined 450 years of experience), Anya wrote the guidebook Jet With Kids for parents traveling with young children. The book was written to provide practical information to increase quality of travel for parents, children, and those sharing an airplane cabin with them.

The book reflects Anya’s love of and comfort with flying and her desire to help others share this. She brings her wisdom as well as lots of great, practical tips on how to make family travel a safe, healthy and comfortable adventure for parents and kids alike. As a mother of three boys (ages 6, 5, and 20 months) I truly appreciate and value this excellent resource. The issue of child and infant safety on airplanes is important to me and by educating parents, I believe we can continue to make progress in this area.

Anya Clowers, RN today– and on her first international flight (1976)

Personal Experience:

Frequent Flier & World Traveling Parent: Anya writes honestly and from the heart, many times using personal experience to complement her professional research. She grew up visiting her grandparents in their small German village and hosting German friends and relatives throughout her childhood in Minnesota. She has flown as the upgraded business traveler, the single and solo traveler, the honeymooner, the babymooner, and most recently as a traveler accompanied by a young “frequent flier in training”- her son as the infant, toddler, preschooler, and now, school age child (who has traveled to 17 countries before finishing kindergarten!).

She understands what it feels like to sweat profusely while attempting to securely install a bulky 20 lb. car seat in an airplane seat while keeping track of her wandering toddler. She has also flown with ear pain and understands the excruciating pain congestion can cause when flying. Her research has led her to the 1 lb. alternative to those bulky car seats and the prescription device that eliminates ear pain and pressure. Anya understands firsthand that travel is only as good as we feel!

Professional research combined with a personal touch is a powerful combination.

Anya Clowers, RN is a child-safety and parent-sanity advocate. She values comfort and small details that increase the quality of travel and life.

The first and last impression of a trip is often the flight process. Prepare to enjoy!
