Prevent Cold and Flu: Traveling With Kids
It is important to focus on cold and flu prevention when traveling with kids on airplanes and through airports.
1. Bring Kleenex, wipes, and instant hand sanitizer and stock them in easy to reach areas. Use often. However, please note that instant hand sanitizer can be fatal if ingested in large enough amounts by little ones.
2. Do not rely on the airline to provide enough water to keep well hydrated. Purchase a large water for each person after going through security. Keep in mind that many delays occur during the Holidays and Winter season. Do not get stuck on a flight without water!
3. Watch the amount of surfaces that little kids touch (or try to) when in a public place. The escalator and stair railings, elevator buttons, bathrooms and even the tray tables on the planes – think about the number (and health) of people who have touched those surfaces- maybe after coughing or sneezing or returning from the restrooms….

(Do not get me started about hand washing!!) Many times I intercept my son’s hands from roaming all over these germ infested surfaces. Consider using a sanitizing spray or wipes for the tray tables and arm rests on the flight.
