When my son was an infant, I was worried about him sleeping with loose blankets anywhere near him. Even very young infants can move their arms and legs enough to dislodge a blanket with small movements during sleep. This can lead to blankets bunching up around their mouth and nose, causing them to breath in the air they exhale. This exhaled air contains carbon dioxide and can be dangerous for them to “rebreathe”.

The other thing that happens at night is due to this movement as well. The blankets get kicked off and they can wake up because they are too cold. Waking up due to an uncovered baby can be tedious and tiring for both baby and parent.
