This morning a friend called inviting my preschooler to go to the zoo today on a play date. Morning snack and lunch were around the corner – so I quickly made and packed him a sandwich. However, my son is a grazer – and additional snacks are essential. I went to pack his little IcyBag with the sandwich, cheese sticks, juice box, and crackers as well as the fruit stick – and reached into the freezer for the gel pack that I assumed would be nicely frozen and waiting.
That was when I realized that I had forgotten to put the IcyBag gel pack back into the freezer after we used it the day before on the train. I reached into our backpack and yep – there the gel was – soft and warm.
I groaned – how to keep up with it all? So I threw the gel pack in the freezer on the top “quick freeze” shelf and was comforted by the fact that at least it would be frozen for the next day.
I was interrupted in my thinking when the phone rang and put the IcyBag into the fridge. About 40 minutes later when my friend arrived, I retrieved the IcyBag and opened the freezer to look for something cold that wouldn’t melt all over that I could stick into the bag.
And guess what? There was the little IcyBag gel pack – frozen! Well, it wasn’t 100% solid – but the majority of it was frozen and the whole thing was cold. I couldn’t believe it was frozen so fast! Off to the zoo it went as it carried my son’s lunch and snacks.

I love multi-functional products. And I love when products are “forgiving” and help me out as an overworked mother.
Thanks to melted make-up on her wedding day – Kathy Cohen (now a busy mother) invented this insulated bag for life on the go. Cosmetics, medication, sunscreen, and snacks easily stay cold in this convenient make up size bag.
IcyBag does fly with us every flight – but it also goes on every Amtrak train ride (many this past month), and trips around town. Because really – is it ever possible as a mother of a toddler or preschooler to leave the house without snacks???
Thanks Kathy for inventing the IcyBag! Today I appreciated your product even more….
