Keep Food Off the Floor With the Snacker Catcher

by Anya Clowers, RN

Okay, so you’ve heard of the 5-second rule, sometimes referred to as the “3-second rule” or “10-second rule” or as some use it, for the amount of time it takes them to pick up food that has fallen on the floor. Does the rule change for you based on your surroundings? Would you eat food that had fallen on the airport floor? What about on the floor of the airplane?

Whether at home or traveling, I cringe a bit when my baby drops food on the floor and proceeds to put it back into his mouth. For this reason, I was interested in testing out the Snacker Catcher. Gold Winner of the 2009 Mom’s Choice Award, this handy device allows children to eat their favorite snacks without dropping them on the floor!

Mother of four and inventor of the Snacker Catcher, Athena Menoudakos, was tired of picking up wasted food. She looked for a product that would catch the food before it fell to the ground. Unable to find such a product, she decided to invent the Snacker Catcher – a product that saves parents time (you won’t be picking up dropped food) and money (less wasted food)!

How does the Snacker Catcher work? Snacks (best with large snacks like bagels, pretzels, or teething rings) are held in an adjustable silicone loop. I was impressed with the strength of the loop; it really does hold the snack food tightly in place. The Snacker Catcher attaches to your child’s clothing with a sturdy clip, and best of all, your child has control of his snack!

Always monitor child with the use of this product.
