The first stop of our 8 month trip around the world was Washington D.C. I was honored and delighted to have the opportunity to meet with National Transportation Safety Board Chairman Deb Hersman.
Chairman Hersman is a passionate, kind, and practical advocate handling a tough job well. She is a woman I greatly admire and respect. Just a month before our visit, Chairman Hersman was nominated by President Obama to be re-appointed for an additional two year term. This is fantastic news, as she is an asset to the NTSB and travelers of all ages!
I previously had the pleasure in communicating with her regarding the safety issue of lap-held children on airplanes. The NTSB has encouraged the FAA to mandate safety for even the youngest passengers on airplanes. My views on the lap held child can be read here: http://www.jetwithkids.com/blog/lap-child-policy
