First stop on our 8 month world tour was Washington D.C., a great family destination filled with loads of history, interesting people, fantastic restaurants, a great metro system, and an Emmy award winning sports show!
We were able to observe what an Emmy-winning team of producers go through daily to produce a fast paced ESPN sports show every afternoon! As friends of an editing producer of the show Pardon the Interruption, my family was granted studio access to a normally closed studio, spent time in the famous “Green Room”, sat on sets of two ESPN sports shows and left outfitted with PTI baseball hats for the whole family.

My son was able to watch the control room in action and observe the behind the scenes of the making of a tv show.

He even saw his favorite Vikings football player peeking out through the Green Room window. Wait… what?!

Was that Minnesota Vikings Running back Adrian Peterson?!
Despite the many talents of Peterson, my son had only one thing to say when asked his prediction for the Vikings upcoming season:
When asked to comment further, the temporary host just yawned as his support staff called it a wrap and unhooked the microphone.

The day was not yet over for the little sports show host… he had to go upstairs to let the real Around the Horn host Toni Reali know he was available to cover when Toni needed him…

His performance was outstanding and as a reward, he was able to hold the REAL Emmy later that evening!

Congrats to the hard working team at Pardon the Interruption and thanks for a fun day at the studio!

I had no idea the exhaustion my little sports show host was feeling until it was really quiet in the car and I turned around and saw this:

Toni, you may have to cover for him for a while.
