Passports with Purpose was a SUCCESS! Congrats to winners!

by Anya Clowers, RN

The 2009 Passports with Purpose charity fundraiser was a huge success! Originally the goal was to raise $13,000 to build a much needed school for children in Cambodia. The $13,000 was quickly raised and an additional goal of $13,000 was set. How exciting that over $26,000 was ultimately brought in to support the Passport school!

Now these kids not only will have an actual school building and teacher, but a school nurse (gotta love those nurses!), clean water, and at least one complete meal per day.

A huge thank you to the co-founders of Passports with Purpose for doing all the groundwork and to travel bloggers worldwide for spreading the word! Also many thanks to those who generously donated fantastic prizes for the fundraiser. Jet With Kids was proud to represent two fantastic companies and their valuable products: Maclaren USA: Maclaren Quest stroller ($245 value) and ERGObaby: ERGObaby Hands Free System ($180 value).

Two of my favorite products for traveling with kids, a reliable lightweight Maclaren stroller and an ergonomically friendly ERGObaby carrier system were donated through our site.

And the winners are…

Congratulations to Michael M. of San Francisco, CA! He is the winner of the amazing, lightweight, ultra-valuable Maclaren Quest stroller! When notified of his prize, Michael shared the exciting news that he and his wife are expecting their first child! I am sure he will soon agree the Maclaren Quest is a wonderful travel stroller. It is also one I prefer to use around the city, in restaurants (it’s narrow and fits great!), on the train, plane, or stashed in the car for those trips to the store. The stroller will last through the growing years. I have photos of my son at 18 months sleeping in the stroller and now at 5 years old (and 50lbs.) riding around comfortable and relaxed.

Congratulations to Katrina S. of San Francisco, CA! She is the winner of the must-have, back-and-sanity-saving, ERGObaby Hands Free System!

When notified of her prize, Katrina told me she was soon to be an aunt to nephew #2 due to be born around Valentine’s Day.  Katrina writes that her sister’s family loves urban rambles in San Francisco and will love the ERGObaby system. I agree – but also want to point out the ERGObaby carrier will make a difference especially for the visiting aunt who is not used to holding little ones for lengthy periods of time! I found this true with our ERGObaby and the grandparents. Even a newborn can make arms tired after a while – but with the ERGObaby carrier, the baby is snug and comfy as well as the loving adult!

And don’t overlook the difference this carrier can make for the 3 year old big brother. We used the carrier to carry my 35 lb. son throughout London when he didn’t want to walk or was due for his nap. That’s when the real value of the ERGObaby appears. Approved for children up to 40 lbs., the carrier is different than most because of the fantastic ergonomic support and lack of strain when carrying heavier children.

Thank you to ERBObaby for the very generous donation and Congrats to winner and expectant aunt Katrina S. of San Francisco!

Thank you to all who donated to this worthy cause. We look forward to hearing all about the new school, due to be completed in June of 2010.
