Have a trip planned and want to leave the potty training nightmares at home? Frustrated with the process or lack of progress?
Help has arrived! Introduced to the market just recently, this product is the answer many struggling parents are looking for when it comes time to tackle the potty training issue.
Potty Tots Training Kit was a finalist for the 2008 JPMA Innovation Awards. As a judge, I was able to immediately see the benefit of this program. Appealing to kids and easy for adults to incorporate into daily life, Potty Tots was sure to be a hit!

Jill Leech, a mom of 3, with a background in psychology and a teaching credential in social sciences found herself at a loss for potty training her youngest child. She designed her own system to be one that her daughter could relate to, visualize, and follow along. It worked for her, and Jill shared it with other parents who also valued this product. That is when Potty Tots Training Kit was born!
Here’s what I like about this program:
1. It’s realistic – little Enrique wonders why he needs to wash his hands after going potty since they “didn’t get dirty”.
2. Understanding that independence is important to kids of potty training age, this kit allows the option to choose a favorite illustrated potty chart – a colorful visual aid.
3. The animated DVD with sing along songs encourages the child to visualize, observe, and participate! And the great part about it? The DVD is realistic, funny, and rare in that it is one that adults will enjoy watching with the child. (The music is fun and not annoying)
4. Attainable expectations. The children in the video count out 3 squares of toilet paper, oops – too many – and roll the excess paper back up. This realistic approach shows children how to fix the problem of using too much toilet paper, and offers an memorable reference for how much to use.
5. Children can easily relate to the multi-ethnic characters in the video.
6. A bit of potty humor keeps the video fun for all to watch and keeps the mood light as a bit of “tooting” is heard in the bathroom.
7. This program is a project for kids to learn. They are helped by other children and not TOLD what to do by adults. Fears and insecurities are acknowledged and confirmed as being normal.
Jill and her sister Jenny Le Blanc (also mother of 3 and an educator) have created a valuable tool that turns the dreaded task of potty training into a fun adventure and a great independence establishing achievement!
For the traveling family, the potty chart is easy to pack and brings the familiar along in hotel or vacation rental bathrooms.

A Life Between Flights Product: Because all our little travelers go through potty training at some point!
*Remember to have children wear “flight pants” on all flights – nothing worse than a wet seat and 20 minutes to cruising altitude! Here are my tips for getting kids to wear “flight pants” once potty trained. http://www.jetwithkids.com/blog/traveling-with-kids-pull-up-diapers
