Shae by Air DVD Toolkit |
This is an incredible tool to prepare your toddler for air travel. My two year old was captivated by Shae and could relate to her throughout the process. I liked that they addressed common issues that toddlers face in an airport and an airplane - going through security (putting their belongings on the moving belt), not kicking the seat ahead of them, "pop" of the ears, etc. Even though this is intended for toddlers, I believe it would be informative for any child who is preparing for a flight.
Preparing children properly and helping them know what to expect does make a huge difference in how they react to the stimulating environment of the airport and the quiet, unfamiliar environment of the airplane. Thank you for creating this professional, informative, developmentally appropriate DVD - this will make a difference for many people: the children that learn from watching it, the parents of these prepared children, and the other passengers on board - NOT affected by kicked seats or screaming kids!
I am grateful to have found this toolkit! |

The Little Travelers DVDs |
If traveling to the British Isles (England, Scotland, Ireland), Bali, or Japan, a must have is The Little Travelers DVDs. These DVDs were created by a mom and her two young daughters as they explored the local culture of these countries. Even if you aren't traveling to one of these locations, I think the videos are superb for teaching young children about adapting to another culture and accepting other traditions - even if not familiar with them.
Honest, adorable, and incredibly good quality - you will find yourself sitting next to your child and in a trance as these amazing little travelers explore life in another country. What is it like in a grocery store in Japan? Do they use similar wash machines? Do little kids in Bali or Japan ride bikes with training wheels also?
These videos will keep you smiling and at times even laughing as the girls are honest about their impressions and reactions, as well as enthusiastic in their adventures and friendships. The video appears professionally done in quality, but is so real that you are assured there is no acting involved!
A valuable educational tool for any person who has yet to travel to a foreign country, I think the DVDs are a fabulous tool for parents to prepare children for life away from home. I'll even go so far as to say that these DVDs are a great tool for any traveler of any age. Because really - the true essence of travel is not to see the castles or museums, but instead to understand another way to live life- daily life. Go ahead - take a moment to fly a kite in the rice field with the children of Bali. You will be mesmerized and thankful.
The narration is done by the two girls, adding a unique value to the video as they share the memories of daily life from their own perspective. Wonderful native music accompanies the girls in the video as they journey into everyday life at the market, play areas, restaurants, temples and more. |

Busy at the Airport
by Rebecca Finn |
I bought this book for my son at a bookstore in Rome. Even though the text is in Italian (the one shown here is in English), he has LOVED to read through the book and turn the wheels making the luggage go round and the planes fly.
This has been his favorite book and has been used many times on flights as well as in church to keep him entertained and quiet! |

| The Complete Travel Detective Bible by Peter Greenberg |
Over 600 pages of fantastic travel information. Peter has done it all and he helps "travel addicts" to accomplish the journey with the least amount of stress.
His tips are user-friendly and extremely helpful. His travel experience leaves me in awe and his writing is easy to read and many times finds me nodding my head in agreement or laughing at his humorous explanation of life in the travel world.
I highly recommend his book! It will save you so much time and money and headaches - for ALL aspects of the trip. Peter truly experiences a culture and he has learned that some of the best tour guides are the hotel maids or people you meet on a bus. Live the culture - get out of the tourist zone.
Plus Peter's tips will save you time and stress by avoiding the worst airports, lost luggage, navigating airports, etc.
Peter Greenberg IS the Consummate Insider. Trust his experience, read his book, and live the experience of the journey! |
